how to cook ham

Spiral hams are usually already cooked, so they just need to be reheated in the oven. Check the packaging to make sure. You will need to heat the ham in a warm (not hot) oven, so it does not dry out. You can then serve it with your favorite Easter food side dish recipes.

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F and remove your spiral-sliced ham from the packaging. Put it face-down in a roasting pan, unless you are using a whole ham, in which case put it on its side. Cover the ham tightly with aluminum foil and heat it for twelve to fifteen minutes per pound. Let the ham rest for ten minutes before you carve it.

Approximate Cooking Times

A quarter ham will take about one and a half hours, a half ham will take about two hours, and a whole ham will take about three hours. It is very important not to use a higher heat or overcook the ham, else it will be dry instead of succulent. Continue reading
