Christine's Product Reviews

Whether you want to make something to cheer you up on a cold winter morning or you just like the idea of breakfast being ready and waiting for you, this recipe is great. The following recipe makes enough for six people but if you do not need so much you can refrigerate it and microwave it the following morning. Oats are cheap, especially if you buy them in bulk from the health food store or another grocery store. They also make a satisfying and nutritious breakfast. Oats are low in fat and high in fiber and you can use them to make cookies or breakfast cereal mixes, as well as this delicious slow cooker oatmeal recipe.

The following recipe calls for steel-cut oats but if you only have regular oats, double the amount you use, else the crockpot oatmeal will be mushy. Steel-cut oats are easy enough to find though. If you prefer your oatmeal a bit more dry, reduce the water quantity by one cup. Some people seem to like quite “wet” oatmeal and if that sounds like you just make the following recipe exactly as it is. Remember that adding fruit to the oatmeal before you cook it will add extra liquid content to it and might change the consistency a bit.

If you enjoy fruity oatmeal recipes, you can stir some diced apple and raisins into the mixture before cooking it and perhaps stir in some sliced banana and chopped walnuts just before serving it. Drizzle some honey over the oatmeal before serving it, if you want to, or add some jam, preserves, or butter. This delicious recipe will give you something exciting to get up for in the morning. Whether you have to get the kids ready for school and you do not have time to cook breakfast or you want to enjoy a leisurely breakfast without having to stand over the stove, this recipe gives you the perfect solution for those mornings.
