These delicious burgers are simple to make and are flavored with A1 sauce, onion, parsley and more. Burger recipes are usually served with burger buns but this is not always the case and in the following A1 steak sauce burgers recipe they are served with a tasty homemade gravy instead.

This is a great recipe for busy weeknights when you have to feed the whole family and this recipe is easy enough to double if you have extra people over for dinner. Feel free to add some Merlot or a similar red wine to the gravy if you want. Also, sautéed mushrooms are good in the homemade gravy recipe. You can use beef bouillon instead of the beef broth and the crockpot is another way of keeping everything warm.

Tasty Steak Burgers with Homemade Gravy
Cuisine: American
Recipe type: Entree
Serves: 8
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 dashes A1 sauce
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley
  • Salt and black pepper
  • ¾ cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil, for frying
  • Fresh basil, for garnish
For the Gravy:
  • 2 cans beef broth, 10 oz each
  • ¾ cup flour
  • Cold water
  • Salt and black pepper
  1. Combine the beef, onion, A1 sauce, parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, and seasoning with your hands.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.
  3. Preheat a heavy skillet over a medium heat and add some canola oil.
  4. Shape the hamburger mixture into 8 patties, slightly flattening them.
  5. Fry them, turning after about 4 minutes.
  6. Do not worry if they stick a bit because this adds flavor to the gravy.
  7. When the burgers are cooked through, keep them warm in the oven.
  8. Add the beef broth to the drippings in the pan and bring the mixture to the boil.
  9. Put ½ cup of flour in a large mug and stir in cold water with a fork until you have a thick mixture.
  10. Add salt and plenty of pepper. Slowly add this to the beef broth gravy, whisking all the time to scrape up anything stuck to the bottom.
  11. Bring the mixture back to the boil, then turn it down to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
  12. Pour the gravy through a strainer and serve it over the burgers.
  13. Use a sprig of basil for garnish and serve with mixed vegetables and French fries.
